About Us

The Leoš Janáček School of Music has a long and rich history. It has been providing highly professional art education to thousands of children from Ostrava and its surroundings for more than ninety years. At the present time, it offers quality music instruction in almost all common musical instruments, including percussion, cymbalom and harp.

We accept children from the age of 5 in the preparatory classes, from the age of 7 at the primary level and from the age of 14 at the secondary level. Instrument lessons are held once a week on a one-to-one basis. Pupils further broaden their music skills and knowledge in Music Workshop team lessons and pupil ensembles. The fee is fixed per school year and is paid biannually.

Taking part in various music ensembles is a very important component of children‘s musical development. In our school, there are numerous ensembles – four cymbalom bands, a children's choir, folk band, rock band, guitar ensemble, recorder ensemble, string ensemble and various chamber ensembles.
